Chinese Calligraphy
What is Calligraphy?
Much like painting, calligraphy is one of many Chinese art forms practiced since ancient times. Through the handling of one's brush, the medium of form, presentation and style convey to the viewer the moral integrity, character, emotions, and aesthetic feelings of the artist. The piece becomes a work of art that affects its reader by the power of its appearance and its joy of beauty.
As origin goes, the art form dates back to around 4500 years ago from inscriptions on sacrificial vessels found in Shandong during the period when the Dawenkou culture once thrived (4000-2000 BCE).
